REPRESENTATION. REFORM. UNITY.
Thus far as a second-year political science major, I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with student organizations such as CALPIRG, ASUCR, and Lobby Corp. I did this with the purpose of gathering a better understanding of the issues that matter the most to us all. Nevertheless, I seek to understand more, but with an added purpose. To represent my peers as a CHASS Senator. This would afford me the privilege of working with my peers and spearhead a bold endeavor that will transform our student government. I won’t fool myself, nor you into thinking that I alone can take on this challenge. However, with linked arms, we will make our student government work to it’s full and untapped potential. Together we will usher in not only a more responsive and inclusive student government for us currently attending, but also for those who will come after us.

Student Health Services
Our student health services play an integral part in our ability to work at our full potential. Unfortunately, getting help in a timely fashion is all but none existent. Some of us forgo these services because we must wait so long. I refuse to believe we can't make these services more accessible, whether it be mental or physical. For us to deal with the multitude of responsibilities we have, we need a more responsive set of student health services that will keep us mentally and physically sharp. I will strive to make this a reality.

Course Registration
Our campus is expanding. Getting bigger and better. The speed, however, is not in sync with the rate of new students being admitted. This means resources are spread thin. At no other time do we feel this more than during registration time. Looking for a regular class? An upper-division? It doesn't matter. It's highly likely you'll find that it's full. Even if you set your term plan you may get wait-listed or worse, you don't get the class at all. Now you may not even have the necessary units needed to get your financial aid. As CHASS Senator I will work to make these situations an anomaly for my peers rather than the norm. Students should not be "half-time" when they intend to be "full-time", especially when it's no fault of their own.
Campus Safety
The safety of our peers on campus is paramount to their success. If you actively try to avoid taking classes held at night, that's a problem. If you feel like you're taking a gamble by either going to or coming back from class at night, that's a problem. Getting an education at UCR should not make you look over your shoulder. Plain and simple. As a CHASS Senator, I will actively work with not just my CHASS peers but all the student body. I will work to bolster campus safety services such as The Campus Safety Escort Service and ensure that UCPD is doing everything in its power to make you feel safe no matter what time of day it is.

Student Government Transparency and Accountability
This is a dysfunction. This is the disconnect. It's holding us back. It has placed a blindfold on our eyes, covered our ears, sutured our mouths shut, tied both our hands and feet. We have students who don’t even where the student government is located. Let alone what it is that they do. We have students that we’ve lost to the clutches of cynicism because they don’t believe in the process anymore. We have actively involved students who are increasingly frustrated and on the verge of becoming cynical themselves. If we want a more civically engaged student population then as student leaders we must steer ASUCR into being more principled and transparent. Taking on this issue will be a top priority of mine as CHASS Senator.
